Today is World Cancer Day, and we are putting the spotlight on the importance of moving whilst receiving treatment for, or recovering from, certain types of cancer. Here, we share advice from Cancer Research UK. Be sure to …speak with your doctor before getting started.

Reduces the risk of cancers from growing further, or coming back after treatment
Research suggests exercise lowers the risk of dying from certain cancers
Can reduce the risk of getting certain cancers (colon, post-menopausal breast, and womb)

Can improve overall enjoyment of life

How to get started
Always speak to your doctor before starting physical activity – they will help you identify which exercises are safe for you
Build up gradually, starting with 10-15 minutes of gentle movement
Get moving with friends or family – they can help and support you
Do activities that you enjoy, to help you stick with it
