Weardale Wassail
On a dark night in January, Weardale came alive with wassailing community members who joined together to celebrate the turning of the seasons, bless the upcoming harvest and share their wishes for the year ahead! There was singing, music-making, dancing, mummers acting, the blessing of the Wesley Bob, good food and generally a good time had by all – many of the people that came together were proudly wearing costumes and their wassail masks made in community workshops. PlaceLab: Weardale and Shildon supported community group Weardale Together to deliver this event and the community workshops.
